Austin City Limits Music Festival 2008...Over the weekend, We headed over to Zilker Park to attend the annual ACL Music Festival. Other than the dust storm at the site, everything was fantastic, the highlights for men being John Fogerty, who sang many of his CCR hits (including "Born on the Bayou" and "Fortunate Son"), Beck and Foo Fighters...

Cressbeckler '08...A quick shout out to all of my friends and family riding out the storm tonight in Southeast Texas. My thoughts and prayers are with you...Props to Chris for the following clip. I just filled out my voter registration card and now believe that I've found the ideal presidential candidate (be sure to catch both parts of the clip)...
Inspiration...I've been trying to think up ways for Champ to get more activity/exercise to help him lose those last 12 lbs. He likes walking around the apartment complex, and occasionally will chase a ball or frisbee (even making a rare in-air catch now and then), but I figure that being a working breed, he needs a job to do. The following video on you tube gave me new a new vision of how we could get Champ into good shape and save on the high cost of gasoline...

Fire...It was a surreal scene yesterday afternoon at Caroline's apartment complex as dozens of firefighters fought a blaze that eventually destroyed one of the buildings (it was two buldings down from hers) . I believe 24 units were damaged in total. The fire was allegedly caused by an inattentive cigarette smoker...

Diet...With Caroline being out of town for the next few days, I've officially decided to re-start a solid diet/exercise program. I have been making trips to 24 Hour Fitness a few times a week, but haven't kept up a consistently healthy diet for a while now. I think I've put on close to 30 lbs over the past couple of years, and was up to 237.8 this morning ! Anyway, I have a good diet plan mapped out and will aim to walk 10,000 steps a day in addition to 5-6 workouts a week at the gym. Champ has put on an extra 12 lbs as well, so he'll be going on a diet too...

California...Over the Memorial Day weekend, I flew out to Southern California to hang out with my brother who was there on business. On Friday, Mark anf I headed over to Downtown Disney in the Anaheim area, and caught a showing of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The film was for the most part forgettable... Saturday, we ventured over to Universal Studios in Hollywood. The Mummy ride, The Simpsons ride, and the studio tour were my favorite attractions. We were lucky to catch the studio tour when we did, since much of the back lot burned to the ground the following weekend...That night, we met one of Mark's So. Cal cohorts, Ron, at Dodger Stadium for a game between L.A. and the St. Louis Cardinals. The Dodgers lost, but the atmosphere was electric, and I enjoyed consuming dodger dogs and garlic fries...Sunday, we headed over to Knott's Berry Farm for further amusement park fun. It was a great park and had plenty of good rides...On Monday, after dropping off Mark at LAX, I took a drive up the Pacific Coast Highway to Santa Monica, and the cruised through much of L.A. (Beverly hills included) down Wilshire Blvd...

Sprouts...In an effort to further improve health and vibrancy, I've started growing and consuming my own sprouts. A few weeks back, I ordered a fantastic sprouter along with broccoli seeds and this past weekend harvested my first batch of broccoli sprouts. It was practically effortless to produce the sprouts. I just had to rinse the seeds/sprouts a couple of times a day and set them in a sunny location for a day or two to produce chlorophyll. I chose broccoli as my first sprout crop because it is loaded with an unbelievable amount of glucoraphanin. The sprouts are a fine addition to any salad or sandwich (maybe not PB & J, though I haven't tried it yet)...
