Inspection...Props to Andy of Andy's Inspection Co. for dropping by and checking out the (prospective) house for me. He did recommend a few repairs, but overall seemed to think the place was in pretty good shape...Last night, Darrell and I made our weekly visit to Rio Rita's. My chile relleno was good as expected, but i think the salsa was better than it's ever been. They added extra cilantro, or something. Server Jennifer Smith (LU Mascot Big Red) took care of us really well. She just got a new pit bull puppy and says it's extremely smart, friendly and good with children. She hasn't gotten a treadmill for "Chance" yet, but does plan on getting its ears clipped, and will definitely buy the dog a spiked collar...Speaking of dogs, I'm really stoked about the possibility of my alma mater, UNM, bringing a live wolf onto the sidelines as a mascot during home games next season. That, combined with a winning football team, should really draw the fans to Lobo stadium...

Changes...David, Darrell and I had a good night down at Carrabbas. Our regular server, Melissa H., wasn't there (she's in Houston this week having some "elective surgery" done---her co-workers said she would look much different the next time we see her) but Jennifer L. was a good replacement, and a lot less grouchy as well...Student Carrie R. came and visited this afternoon. She just got a new gig at Petco as a groomer, and within a few weeks she'll finally be able to pay off the swimsuit she has on layaway down at the Buckle...

Double portion...Huge props to Darrell for hooking us all up with two meals today--- lunch at Casa Ole' and dinner at Poblano Grill. He was able to sell several hundred pounds of scrap metal this afternoon (old air conditioner parts mostly) so he's no longer poor. I knew he was paying so i ordered the Bananas Foster (pure sugar...mmmhhh...) for dessert. I'm stuffed (bloated actually) but it was well worth it...

Enough...I met up with my peeps down at Sanderson's today for a fantastic lunch. My name-your-own burger with pepperjack cheese, swiss cheese, and jalapenos was unbelievably good. Props to Campbell for breaking out the c-note (i swear i was reaching for my wallet but he beat me to it) and covering for everyone. Our server, Jalyn, did a good job taking care of our table. She just got promoted to bartender, and promised Darrell a night of free drinks next Sunday...I noticed that my beard is beginning to catch and retain food particles (crumbs, drops of ranch dressing, etc.) so it may be time to cut back...

Weekend...I just got back from a big shopping excursion to Target. Although i won't close on the new house for a few more weeks, my sister convinced me that i needed to start buying new housewares (i guess paper plates, plastic sporks and styrofoam cups are no longer acceptable). So far, i've purchased stainless steel flatware (the cortez collection), a pizza pan, a cookie sheet and lots of glasses... This afternoon, I joined up with Jon, Maureen, and Albert at Meadowgreen for the first big tennis match in quite a while. All of us played well, but i'm going to need quite a bit more practice over the next couple of weeks to prepare for Derrick Torres' (the dirty Puerto Rican) visit. He took me the the wood-shed last time we played. Afterwards we headed to Twin-City Sno-Cones for some needed refreshment. Twin-City Sno-Cones rocks...Friday, we celebrated Mom's birthday at Esther's Seafood. I had the Shrimp Etoufee', Broiled Catfish and Jambalaya, and it was fantastic...I highly recommend the movie "Repli-Kate" with Ali Landry. Jon found it in the $5.88 DVD bin at Super Wal-Mart, and it was worth every penny... Unfortunately, i missed the big event in south Jefferson county last night. A backyard performance by pre-teen band/lip synchers "The MacDaddies" (apparently a group of six 2nd graders from Van Buren elementary) drew well over a hundred people to Hansen Street in Groves Saturday evening. The group did the concert as part of the "We Rock Tour 2004." Other tour dates and venues are unknown at this time. My sister (VB elementary music teacher) said that the kids did well (especially moving were the group's covers of SmashMouth's "All Star" and Dobie Gray's "Drift Away") , and they even gave her an autographed picture of the entire band...
