Knew it... The conclusion to last night's episode of Survivor All-Stars really didn't surprise me. I knew that Lex (who i really wanted to see win --- the guy was truly cool) had shown unbelievable weakness last week in cutting a deal with Boston Rob to keep Amber in the game. Rob promised not to "stick a knife" in Lex's back, but in the end, did just that. It's sad, really. Guess i've got to root for Kathy now... Props to Lifetime TV for broadcasting the 2004 US Sychronized Team Skating Championships this morning (in the coveted 8 A.M. time slot). I had no clue that such an event existed. The Haydenettes from Lexington, Mass. won the competition (no surprise really, they've won on 14 previous occasions and coach Lynn Benson always has her team ready). With the win, they will now move on to the World Championships in Zogreb, Croatia (i've heard Zogreb is really nice this time of year). One of the other teams, the Crystalettes, actually had a dude on their team... I've been keeping my spending down over the past few days. We ended up meeting at IHOP last night. Sam, our elderly waitress, took really good care of campbell, darrell, and i, and was always sure to call us by pet names like "sugar" and "sweetie"...

Bachelor...I'm thinking the new edition of "The Bachelor" will be the best yet. The bachelor, pro quarterback Jessie Palmer, is a bit of a bonehead (giving a rose to the wrong girl on accident...oooops) but is smooth and very likable, kind of like a younger version of former president Bill Clinton. I think he'll make the show interesting. There is also a "spy" and a "stalker" on the show and of course, there are plenty of skanks, and a few decent girls mixed in (just for laughs), so we'll see how things go. As far as first impressions, here goes:
Mandy J. --- she's a Texan, so i should be rooting for her, but she just gave me that "instant ick" feeling. I don't have any clue why she was picked...
Jenny S. --- seemed nice and down to earth, but has bad, bad hair...
Kristin K. --- she's a med student, and is definitely one of my favorites. You can just look at her and tell that she's the real deal...
Jessica H. --- she's really nice, but seems to be riding an emotional roller coaster. A couple of more weeks into the game and she'll have a nervous breakdown...Paxil please...
Amber --- she's stunning and seems very family oriented (she claims to really love kids !!!), but that creepy stare (someone else had to have noticed this) really set off my psycho meter...Five bucks says she's the stalker...
Anne -Catherine --- why bring in a French Canadian??? Can't they find enough decent American girls? This girl reminds me of some of the trashy Euros on "The Next Joe Millionaire"...
Tara --- damn...i'd give her a rose, buy her a ring and be done with the whole thing...
Julie --- stunning as well---she would be in my final two, and go home broken hearted...
Jean Marie --- how did a pre-op transsexual get on the show?? Actually, she is very attractive (in a Zena Warrior princess sort of way), but that deep and "manly" voice would really grate on me...
Trish --- the definition of gold-digging skank. She was waaaaaay too smooth--- an obvious player. Plus, she admits to being intimate with over 35 guys, and has broken up at least one marriage, so...well...er...no...
Karen --- i absolutely despise her already. I know that she was Miss Rhode Island 1999, but c'mon...
Katie --- She's got to be the sentimental favorite---geez, she only got a rose because Jesse Palmer got her "mixed up" with karen described above. After telling her that the rose was meant for someone else, JP gave her the option to stay or go. If she had any pride at all she would have left with her dignity (after all, you should never try to hold on to someone who doesn't really want to be with you --- sometimes you've just got to walk away...) but she chose to stay. All of the other girls have to be secretly laughing at her. Perhaps she's the "spy"...

Drained...My biorhythm reading says that i am at a high point physically, intellectually, and emotionally, but truthfully, i feel like crap, and have been totally useless today. While checking my biorhythms on facade.com, i also had a tarot reading done. I quit reading halfway down the page---it was all bad news...Last night, darrell, jackie, david, campbell, and i enjoyed a great dinner down at Poblano grill. We had a fun time visiting with servers Richard G. (one half of the duo Gober and Cribbs---rising stars on the local music scene) and Jennifer C., who claimed to have had a dream about me the previous night. It was apparently a good dream, although she didn't go into much detail. Jackie and Darrell both ran up huge tabs, and have promised to cut back on going out for a while. I've got a hunch that won't last long. I actually should cut back as well---i'll just have to convince a few more of my students to cook and bring me dinner. That chicken fricasee' (chicken and sausage gumbo, if you ask me) was excellent...Props to student Chrissy L. for bringing me back a souvenier pin from the Texas Motor Speedway. Like most girls from Vidor, she's a huge NASCAR fan...

Thanks...Thanks to student Bonny B. for cooking me up a batch of Chicken Fricasee'. Apparently it's a cajun gumbo-style dish with a thick roux. I've never had it, but it sounds (and smells) really good...I'm really stoked to have rain and thunderstorms back in the Beaumont forecast---too many sunny days lately...

Elderly Wildcatters Fan proudly displays shirt she swiped from a group of children during the t-shirt toss

Final Home Game...We made it out last night to the final home game of the Texas Wildcatters inagural season. The home team crushed the long beach ice dogs 4-2. My sister's choir from Van Buren elementary performed the national anthem and did a damn good job. The kids have talent and capable leadership. Props to VB P.E. (physical education) instructor Becky C. for keeping me entertained during the game. We were horrified during the t-shirt toss (where they toss t-shirts into the crowd) when an elderly lady (apparently the grandmother of one of the VB students) aggressively swiped one of shirts from a group of children. The children cried while she gloated---mean, mean lady...
