Laura C. visits with Darrell before leaving to finish off her pack of Marlboro Lights

Holding down the fort...Many of my LIT co-workers abandoned me yesterday to attend the annual Texas Community College Teacher's Association meeting in Fort Worth, thus things are kind of dead here on campus. I did get a really good parking spot this morning, so no complaints here...Darrell skipped out on his trip, so we were able to make it down to Rio Rita's last night. Laura C. did a decent job waiting on our table and Jennifer Smith (LU Mascot "Big Red") visited and showed us her latest pictures---she was part of Monday's big "Girls Gone Wild" event here in town and was given a GGW trucker's hat for her participation...

Kash is ready to spread knowledge to the incarcerated

Good...Props to Candace for making dinner for me last night. We had Chicken Spaghetti, and it was good---The woman can cook...Darrell and I ordered season tickets for Beaumont Drillers indoor football. Our seats are in the front row---right up against the wall. Sadly, the team's star quarterback from last season was busted for drug trafficking last week---looks like he may miss much of the season...I wrote a letter of recommendation for former student Kash Cox earlier this week, and found out today that he got the job. It's a teaching position at the state prison, so i'm not really sure whether i did him a favor or not...

Successful...I had a good meeting with Dr. Curl of the LU nursing department this afternoon. They're getting me to do a database project for them, and they really liked my design. Now i just have to build the freaking thing...Pre-props to student/guru Jimmy Ray for promising to hook me up with a Campus Corner Gyro for lunch sometime later this week---i know he's good for it...Co-worker debbie and i headed to lunch at Elena's for some fine mexican food. My Enrique's special was excellent.

Candace is ready for the ice...

Weekend…I joined my folks at lunch today for a great meal at Port Arthur’s La Hacienda Mexican Buffet. Most of the food there is great although they’re still screwing up their chile rellenos---why they still use bell peppers and include raisins (!) in the stuffing I’ll never know…Candace and I headed to the Houston Galleria yesterday and had a fun time hanging out and ice skating. She did well for her first time on the ice, but did try (unsuccessfully) to trip me up on several occasions. Afterward, we headed to California Pizza Kitchen for pizza and dessert. The tiramisu was fantastic…
