OK...Props to Candace for treating me to lunch today at Rio Rita's. The Chile Relleno dinner was fantastic, as was the company...Darrell and i were at that same location last night and actually got to break in a new waitress, Danielle. We were her first table to serve ever (she had been "job shadowing" before we got there) and she did a damn good job. I never had to shake my empty glass of diet coke in front of her to get a refill. Jennifer Smith (LU Mascot "Big Red") visited with us for a while and invited us to future Lamar home games. She also performed "the worm" dance for us on the restaurant floor---the girl has talent...

Emotional... One of my COSC 1301 morning section students stopped by my office this afternoon (nearly in tears) asking how she got on my bad side. Actually, i did give her hell the past couple of days for bringing fountain drinks and food (not for me) into the computer lab and for being a complete screw-up, but i didn't mean to convey any ill will. I like all of my students and really try to be a nice guy---no, really. Anyway, it took 20 minutes of continuous reassurance to win her over, but i think i succeeded. In fact, she said if she stopped by Sonic Friday morning before class, she'd buy me breakfast. I won't get my hopes up though. Emotional women (all women) are usually pretty flaky... I had the absolute worst service at lunch today. The waitress was totally oblivious---I shook my empty glass of diet coke in front of her (an obvious hint that a refill was needed), and was ignored. I tipped her, but far less than the usual 8%...

Soothing...I've always loved the food at Carabba's, but tonight, while eating with Jackie and Darrell, i realized that their restroom also has the best liquid hand soap of any restaurant restroom in town. The scent of the soap (yardley's flowering english lavender) was so good. I wrote down the web address, and am cosidering purchasing some for the house. Unfortunately, it has to ship from London, and has to be ordered by the case....

Treats from the Asian Market...

Lucky me...I forgot to run to the grocery store to pick up another pack of Dr. Phil meal replacement shakes, thus my lunch options were looking pretty bleak. Fortunately, at the bottom of my desk drawer, i found last semester's forgotten food stash---a box of Bistro gourmet crackers and a nearly-full can of Sharp Cheddar Easy Cheese (i had to squeeze a while to get all of the crusty part off, but once the cheese started spewing out...mmmmmhhhh). To complement the meal, student Theresa T. brought me some Meiji brand Hello Panda Cookies (tasty biscuits with creamy chocolate filling) and some sugar-coated rice crackers---i've yet to find anything from an asian food market that i don't like...

Who would have thought...Yesterday after eating a fantastic dinner at Groves' new China Inn (General Tso's Chicken and Pepper Steak), Jon, Albert and I headed to Wal-Mart Supercenter and made an amazing discovery in the bargain DVD bin. It appears as though "Young Einstein" was not the only hit film to feature australlian actor/comedian Yahoo Serious. Nope, he also has the lead role in 1999's "Mr. Accident". The movie promises 92 minutes of pure fun and mayhem, thus i gladly decided to part with the $5.88 required to purchase it. I haven't actually watched it yet, but i'm getting more and more tempted by the minute. Also in the bin---Shaft in Africa, Pinnochio (not the disney version---the one with the scary looking wooden puppet) and Never Ending Story 2---i could not convince myself to buy any of those titles...
