Scratch that...I went against my better judgement when i decided to take the advice of my female co-workers and grow back my goatee. The excess facial hair was really beginning to screw me up. After class this evening, i went to Port Arthur Walmart Supercenter #2 and bought two boxes of "Nancy's" brand quiche florentine (which i hadn't had a strong craving for in years). To make matters worse, while eating the quiche, i became glued to tonight's episode of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy (Carson, Ted, Jai and the others were helping a former marine officer impress his lady with his new style), and then watched nearly half an episode of the Golden Girls...Fortunately something snapped, and i got disturbed by my behavior---some would say i hit "threshold". I immediately went for the razor, shaved the goatee off, and sent my uneaten portion of quiche florentine to the dumpster. From now on, i'll be clean-shaven, avoid television networks like Bravo, Lifetime and Oxygen, and limit my "home-cooked" meal selection to frozen pizzas and "Hungry-Man" dinners...

Change in appearance...At the urging of several of my female co-workers, i've decided to grow back my goatee. They saw some of my picures from back in the day (96 & 97) and said the extra facial hair would make me look more suave and sophisticated. I don't usually allow women to tell me what to do/how to dress/how to groom myself, but i'm going with it, at least for a few weeks... I met up with darrell and jackie tonight at pappadeaux's. They're sticking to the low-carb diet plan really well. I'm definitely thinking of cutting back on the fried foods. I had fried shrimp, and am regretting it right about now...My first day back in the classroom was fantastic. All three of today's classes were filled with rowdy, yet eager students. I can already tell it's going to be a fun semester...

Ready...I hung out with former student Candace D. at LU's Setzer Center today. She was on campus selling cell phone plans. At lunch she ate all of her vegetable soup, and all of her sandwich (except for the bread). She's making progress, i guess...While at "the Set", representatives of the Red Bull energy drink company gave us a complimentary can of their product. It was good (think robitussin DM, only carbonated), but the Taurine (a powerful, energizing amino acid) in the drink really messed me up. I was fidgety all afternoon and couldn't concentrate. I advised several students, and can only hope that i put them in the right classes...I am so stoked about school starting back up tomorrow---my first class begins at 9:05...

Consumer Backlash...I've loved Tombstone brand frozen pizzas for years, but i was shocked to see what they are trying to pull on the public with their "Half & Half" pizzas. Basically, they take all of the pepperonis off of one side, and still sell the pizza for the same price. Who in their right mind would fall for that trap? Obviously, their intended targets are the elderly and those not proficient in math and/or economics. I started my protest tonight---i'm switching to Tony's... Darrell, Jackie, Mr. Campbell and I headed down to the Spindletop today for lunch. We had the option of attending a faculty luncheon up at the school, but opted out after we heard rumors that we were going to be served gumbo left over from last month's advisory committee meeting. All three of them are on a low-carb, Atkins-style diet, and ate nothing but meat and grilled vegetables. Not me, though---I had the french-dip sandwich (with au jus, of course) and a large mound of french fries and enjoyed taunting them....

Big Game...I joined several of my co-workers for last night's Lamar basketball game. The Cards destroyed Sam Houston State 89-80. Unfortunately, the team didn't make it past the 100 point mark---had they, all fans would have gotten treated to free Church's Chicken. If only---i really had a huge craving for a two-piece dark meal w/ biscuit...
