Ingenuity... Today after giving one of my finals, a group of students and myself headed over to Crazy Jose's for some mexican food. The kids like to go there because the food is cheap, and they get a 10% discount with their LIT student id card. The lunch was great, but on the way back to campus, Student Jennifer G. and i attempted to listen to a demo CD by up and coming artist and future "Texas Idol" contest entrant Courtney Renee' . The freaking thing got stuck in my CD changer, and we tried to pull it out with various things in the car (coat hanger, keys, JG's hairclip, etc.) but it would not come out. We quickly shied away from metallic objects though, fearing we'd scratch the CD. Finally, I tore up a dentene ice gum package and used the cardboard wrapper to tweeze the CD out. Smart thinking by me... The CD was great (we were forced to use a portable CD diskman after the incident) and we both thought Courtney Renee's version of the James Taylor Hit "Fire and Rain" was very moving...

Lunch with Mrs. Luman... My old high school/Texas A&M partner in crime stopped into town today for a visit. I hadn't seen jen in person since before her wedding last june. She brought both of her kids along. Baby kyle was well behaved, and didn't scream or cry at all (she has been giving him benedryl to combat his "allergies"). Five year old Scooter was a real mess however. He only ate about a quarter of meatball sub, but fortunately i was able to convince him to finish off the big grab bag of cheetos, so he didn't leave subway completely hungry. He can't keep still, and he repeats words and phrases over and over and over. He also likes to bang his head on hard surfaces (namely tables and windows). I have this strange feeling that he'll wind up behind bars someday...
It's definitely good to see Goldberg back...

Weekend Update...The weekend was very eventful --- nonstop action... Saturday morning, i made a huge positive environmental impact by going with 6 of my Beta Alpha Psi buddies to pleasure island for a trash clean up. It was nasty, and we found tons of beer bottles, diapers (mostly dirty ones), fish remains, various prophylactic items, and even a urine sample testing kit. Unfortunately, no crack pipes were discovered. Our sponsor, Dr. Sullivan, is an A&M graduate so we swapped many "Good Bull" stories on the car ride to and from the island. She's anti-bonfire, and hates the "Beat the Hell Outta (insert college name)" yell, but she's still a Good Ag if you ask me. Our group came away injury free, except for Pres. Jen, who received a nasty cut from a broken bottle. It was bloody, but she recovered (although she may be suffering thru the initial stages of lock-jaw by this writing)... Sunday was great too. I went to Albert's house for a bar-b-que, but didn't eat much. I was still stuffed from the after church buffet at La Hacienda. I did bring food for others to enjoy, so I wasn't totally useless... To complete the weekend, we had a fish fry celebrating my uncle mike's birthday. He's a right-wing extremist politically, so i gave him a copy of Al Gore's new book "Joined at the Heart". Don't worry, i got it 90% off at last week's Super K-Mart store closing liquidation...
