Groves Super K-Mart.....Another Casualty of the Bush Economy.... I awoke this morning to sad, sad news. Our Groves Super K-Mart Center is on the chopping block and will no longer serve the community after March of this year... Groves Super K will definitely be missed. The things i'll miss the most are the Self-Checkout stations (i like shopping experiences where i'm not forced to interact with store personnel), the Bo Rics Hairstylists Location in the front of the store (the only $9 Haircuts around), and the constant, reliable availability of Pepsi One (most other stores in the area don't seem to be stocking it any more). The city of Groves is losing two of its largest sales tax contributors in less than two months. Along with Super K, Groves Wal-Mart is also shutting down, due to the opening of a Wal-Mart Super Center in a rival community. It's a sad day when you realize the pillars of your sales tax base are Family Dollar and Big Lots...

Joe Millionaire.!!..I've got to say that Fox's latest reality-based series is unbelievably fantastic. It is so great to see how women behave when competing for "$50 Mil". I think Evan made a wise move by selecting the girls he did. Melissa and Allison are my two favs, although I think Zora will make the best long-term hookup. Heidi was a trashy money-hungry skank, and i'm glad she got the boot---How hard is it to ride a freaking horse. Buttercup should have thrown her as soon as she got on, and then trampled her. Plus, why go on a show like this if you already have a boyfriend. If her man didn't know what type of girl she was, he does now. Kick her to the curb, dude... By the by, what has happened to Alex McCleod ? She was great on "Trading Spaces" (in fact, why did they ever replace her with Paige?). Seeing her tonight in the Grand Salon was disturbing. She looked like she was ten years older and had lost all of her charm and charisma. It's a damn shame...Plus, why the hell do they need her, when the butler (Paul Hogan (not from Crocodile Dundee 2)) makes a great host. Alex seems useless...

Squandered Time... I entered the weekend fully prepared to be more productive than ever. I had plans to catch up on reading that i had put off for weeks, get ahead in my investments and networking classes, get totally prepared for this week's teaching duties, and devise some kind of progressive personal mission statement to guide me through the next ten years. Instead i started saturday by playing Empire Earth. I set it up so that the final age would be the industrial age (it gets more complex starting in the WW1 error, because you have to deal with enemy aircraft---i like cannons and cavalry charges). I set the difficulty level at medium, and i set up 3 teams. I finished the first game by early saturday night (9 hour game). I felt bad that i wasted my day, so i resolved sunday to go back to my original weekend plan....Nope...I started playing again after church, and didn't stop until 10 last night (i did take a break for about an hour to eat). The game is not close to being completed. I'd say it could easily go another 6-8 hours. After wasting much of the weekend, i can't wait to get home tonight and pick up right where i left off...
