Packing up and Heading out...Earlier in the day i was thinking of labeling this post "Hurricane Party at Scott's Crib," but seeing how that damn tornado in the gulf is likely to strengthen into a category 5 or 6, I may as well skip town for a few days... Plus, school has been dismissed at least until friday, and since the power is likely to be out, it would be very dull to hang around. I have never been to a gas station where every pump was nearly on empty. I got my tank nearly up to the full mark, and then the well ran dry. There may have been some super premium unleaded left, but i didn't check. Everybody was buying petrol. While packing up, i considered loading things like pictures, scrapbooks, old love letters (both of them), and old memorabilia. Upon further thought, however, i reasoned that since i never look at these things anyway, there was no need to use up valuable packing room for them. Thus, i opted to pack more useful things, such as clothes, books, CD's, and electronics. These are the times you find out what is really important in life... Bright and early, i'll be on the road to a yet undisclosed location (OK, it's Waco-- now it has been disclosed)...
Speaking of Deja Vu.... Wasn't it just a week ago that we were watching a freaking hurricane in the gulf, and everyone in the triplex was making arrangements to evacuate?
Sho 'nuff... As predicted in an earlier post, i did in fact do poorly on the stats 2 test. My raw score was 60% (I know, I know, just like the first test in stats 1), but it was curved up to a "C". I did in fact feel ultimate shame when wendy (who i only consider half as smart as me) actually got one more question right on the test than i did. What pain and shock i'm feeling right now. Some of my answers were simply foolish, and i'm beginning to feel as though a chimp could have performed better. Just like in Stats 1, i'm sure i'll rally with 100's on my next two tests, it's just painful and embittering to realize that you can't always get by doing a half-ass job. Oh well, looks like i'll be forced to study some over the next couple of months...damn...

DEJA VU ...The other mike is currently in here helping me get the site spiffed up. I'm adding links and archives---it's gonna be great. I just got a bag of M&M's, but i failed to win the 100 Million yen..You won't believe this---another day at subway and another great-looking chick getting an unhealthy meatball sub. This chick only got the 6-inch variety, but she did get cheetos and pink lemonade, thus she is still unbelievably cool in my book. Tomorrow, i get back my stats test from thursday. I feel that there is no way to realistically hope for more than a 45% or so. I totally lost my edge. I froze and choked and panicked. It was deja vu. Last summer in stats 1 with the same professor on the first test, I froze and choked and panicked. I got a 60%, which is still my lowest test score in recent years. I came back with a 100% and a 105% after that, so history tells me i can bounce back. I just wish i had done my homework....next time...

Corpus Christi ACET Weekend...My first ever ACET (Assoc. Computer Educators of Texas) convention coincided with my first ever trip to beautiful Corpus Christi, and the trip was fantastic. The convention topics were fairly interesting (XML, web scripting, .NET, Dreamweaver MX) but it definitely was weird being the only conference attendant under 40. The highlight of the conference for me was our group trip to Bayfest. Herb, our Mcgraw Hill rep. rented a ferry boat, bought tons of shrimp and scored us an entrance pass to Bayfest as well as $10 worth of spendable vouchers. Unfortunately, my vouchers went fast on things like sausage wraps, funnel cakes, and dos equis...I had nothing left for the thrill rides (gravitron, kamikaze, zipper, savant, et al), and mel, the indian national, refused to spot me any of his vouchers (he selfishly wasted them on bottled water) . Thus, for entertainment I was limited to the free performances given by the local children's flamenco group (their performance of El Carrotero (The Carrot??) was fantastic) and 12 year-old singing sensation Brianne Martin. On my way out I did get to hear Earl Thomas Connaly, but we had to leave before LL Cool J took the stage....
